My crawlspace flood changed EVERYTHING about how I store lumber
Had 3 inches of standing water after that storm last April and ruined about $400 worth of maple and walnut I had in the back. Now I keep everything on pallets at least 6 inches off the ground - anyone else use those plastic risers from Home Depot for this?

Consider checking your local humidity levels with a cheap meter before storing any wood down there. I put a dehumidifier in my crawlspace after losing a batch of cherry to moisture that wasn't even from flooding. That little investment has saved me more lumber than the pallets ever could.

A dehumidifier seems like overkill unless you're storing museum pieces.
