My neighbor's comment about my deck staining made me redo the whole thing
So I was out staining my deck last Saturday, using one of those cheap foam brushes from the hardware store. My neighbor Bob walks over and asks why am I brushing the stain on like paint. He said for pressure treated wood you should be flooding it on and then wiping off the excess, not trying to brush it thin like paint. I was halfway through and honestly got frustrated but figured I'd try his method on the remaining boards. Huge difference. The first half looks blotchy now and the second half has this even color that actually soaks into the grain. Now I'm looking at having to sand down the first half and redo it this weekend. Anyone else get bad advice from a neighbor or friend that actually turned out to be the right way after you had already messed it up?

Yeah, that's rough. Bet the first half bugs you every time you look at it now.
