Overheard a guy at Home Depot talking about paint rollers
Some older gentleman was telling his wife that the cheap white roller covers shed lint because they're cut with recycled fibers, not wrapped tight. I grabbed a $9 Wooster instead of the $3 pack and my bedroom walls actually look smooth for once. Anybody else notice how much the roller quality messes up the finish?

Start paying attention and you'll notice this same cheap vs decent thing everywhere, not just paint rollers. @ruby_lane is right about those dollar store ones being lint machines, it's the same with stuff like trash bags or ziplocs where the cheap ones tear and you end up using two anyway. That older guy at Home Depot probably learned the hard way too, same as how I learned cheap paint brushes lose bristles in your finish. It's like buying cheap shoes that hurt your feet, you end up spending more in the long run on replacements or fixing mistakes. I keep a short list in my head now, a few things where paying a bit extra actually saves time and frustration.

Dollar store rollers are basically just lint machines in disguise. Learned that the hard way after ruining a whole wall with fluffy streaks everywhere. Switched to a mid range Purdy and never looked back. Paying a few extra bucks saves you from having to sand and repaint the whole thing again.
