Rant: The cordless nailer I swore was a gimmick just saved my porch rebuild

I spent years thinking battery powered nail guns were for people who couldn't handle a compressor. Then my back went out after dragging hoses around a two story deck in June, and I borrowed my neighbor's 18V framer on a whim. That thing sank 3 inch nails into pressure treated lumber like butter, no compressor hum, no tangled line, no wrestling a 50 foot hose through a window. I finished the whole porch floor in a single afternoon, maybe four hours total, versus the two days I budgeted with my old setup. The only downside is the weight up top and the battery cost, but for trim work or small projects it's honestly way easier on the arms. Has anyone else switched over and found themselves selling their compressor at a garage sale, or am I just getting soft in my old age?

compressor still sits in my garage corner, and honestly, it's not going anywhere. battery guns are fine until the battery dies mid-stroke and you're stuck waiting an hour to charge up, plus that top-heavy weight makes my wrist ache after a couple hours of overhead work. I'll take the hose tangles over buying a second $200 battery pack any day, call me old fashioned but the loud hum is kind of therapeutic after a long week.
