Shoutout to the cheap paint sprayer I almost returned...

I bought a $60 Wagner sprayer from Home Depot last spring for my fence project. I was sure it would clog up or leave drips everywhere after reading some bad reviews. But I had 300 feet of privacy fence to cover and no way I was brushing all that. Figured I'd try it and if it failed, I'd just take it back. Honestly, it worked way better than I expected after I thinned the paint to the right consistency. The finish came out smooth and it cut my time down from maybe 20 hours to about 5. Has anyone else had good luck with a budget sprayer for big outdoor jobs?

That 300 feet of fence would've taken me even longer with a brush. I painted my shed with a Wagner last summer and had a totally different experience. Maybe I didn't thin the paint enough, but it clogged up every 10 minutes and left these heavy drip lines I had to sand down. Ended up going back to a roller for the second coat. I know some people swear by them for big flat surfaces like fences, but the prep work and cleanup always kills the time savings for me. You spend an hour masking everything off and another hour cleaning the sprayer, then the thing still sputters. I'll stick with a good roller and a steady hand.
