TIL my neighbor's 1970s kitchen went from dark and closed off to bright and open after they removed just one non-load-bearing wall over a weekend.

I'm torn because while the open floor plan looks great and adds light, I worry about losing wall space for cabinets and creating a giant echo chamber, so what's your take on removing walls versus keeping separate rooms?

My own kitchen remodel taught me to value storage over echo, but I'm also a pack rat.

Is it really that big of a deal to have a perfect kitchen? You see these pictures online and it feels like a life or death choice. Honestly, a little echo never hurt anybody, and you can always get a rolling island for extra stuff. Sometimes people act like keeping a wall is a personal failure, but it's just a room.
