My dog's taco costume fell apart halfway through the neighborhood parade

Last Saturday I spent 2 hours making a taco costume out of felt and hot glue for my corgi, Milo. We joined the annual pet parade down Elm Street, and about 3 blocks in, the 'shell' started peeling off his back. He just kept trotting along with this sad, floppy felt taco dragging behind him, and I had to scoop him up and carry him the rest of the way. Has anyone else had a costume completely fail during an event? What did you do to fix it quick?

3 blocks in? That felt must've been baking in the sun.

The one on 12th street by the laundromat? I walked by it around 11am and that felt was still completely dry, no shadow from the building at all. 80s and sunny with zero cloud cover actually makes roofing materials set faster, not melt. I've seen that same black felt sit out for 3 days on a flat roof job my buddy did last summer and it was fine. People act like a little heat destroys everything but real roofing felt is meant to take way worse than a normal summer day.
