Spent $45 on a foam dog knight costume kit and my Great Dane looked like a sad couch cushion instead of a fierce warrior

The helmet part was way too small for his giant head and the chest piece kept sliding off after three minutes of walking, so has anyone found a good way to size up those no-sew foam patterns for big breeds?

Knew that foam would be way too flimsy for a big dog, my Great Dane ended up looking like a toaster with legs. Did you try hot gluing extra Velcro patches to the inside of the chest piece to keep it from sliding?

Ngl @simontorres, I gotta push back a little on the foam being flimsy. The cheap craft foam sheets from the dollar store are definitely too soft for any dog bigger than a pug, but the 10mm EVA foam from the hardware store is way tougher. I used that for my lab mix and it held up like a champ, even when she tried to roll in mud with the whole costume on. The velcro trick is solid advice though, just make sure you rough up the foam surface with sandpaper first so the glue actually sticks. If you used the flimsy foam, that's why it slid around so much.
