Wasted $30 on a hot glue gun with no trigger

I bought a cheap glue gun from a dollar store for my cat's spider costume and the glue came out in big globs that burned my fingers. The nozzle also clogged halfway through gluing the felt legs on. Has anyone tried the low-temp glue sticks for pet costumes?

Low temp sticks are better for that kind of thing but they can still be tricky. My sister tried making a cat hat for Halloween once with a cheap glue gun and the cat ended up wearing half the glue on its fur. We spent an hour getting it off with coconut oil. Also dollar store glue guns are basically useless after one use most of the time. The clogging happens because the glue melts unevenly. You might be better off with fabric glue for felt on pet costumes honestly.

Wait, you actually had to pick glue out of your cat's fur with coconut oil? That sounds like a whole mess. I burned my fingers pretty bad on those cheap guns too, it's rough.
