Just realized closed terrariums beat open ones every time

I spent months building open terrariums with succulents and kept losing plants to rot or bugs. Switched to a closed setup with moss and ferns last spring and haven't touched it in 8 months. Why do people still push open terrariums when closed ones basically run themselves?

Killed three succulents before I realized I was basically running a tiny desert in my living room. Switched to a closed jar with some moss and a fern, now it feels like cheating. My only job is to occasionally stare at it and pretend I'm a real plant parent.

Three succulents sounds about right, @the_jennifer. I did the same thing before I figured out my apartment had basically zero humidity. The moss trick is solid, I do the same with a little terrarium I got from a garage sale. Just gotta mist it once a week and it stays green. Way less stressful than watching a succulent shrivel up on you.
