My old terrarium from 3 years ago in my first apartment is still thriving with just the original moss and a few ferns.
Last week I moved it to a new spot with less sun, and it made me realize how much simpler my builds were back then compared to the complex setups I try now.

Seriously, it's just plants. We act like they need a five star hotel. My first one was in an old fish bowl with dirt from the yard, and it's fine. Now I see people, like patricia_carr56 mentioned, using special lights and gadgets and the plants just die. Maybe they want less fuss, not more. We're probably just overthinking the whole thing.

Funny how the simple ones just keep going... my first planted tank was just some gravel and a java fern in a jar. It outlived three of my "proper" aquariums that had all the fancy gear. Makes you wonder what the plants actually want sometimes.
