My sister told me my moss wall looked like a sad green sponge

I built a big closed terrarium last month with a vertical moss section, and my sister came over and just said 'It looks like a wet green sponge got stuck to the glass.' She was right. I had packed the sphagnum moss too tight and used only one type. I redid it with three different mosses from a hike near Boulder and left way more air pockets. Has anyone else had a family member give brutally honest feedback that actually improved a build?

Honest family feedback is just free, if slightly brutal, quality control.

Tbh how do sisters always know the exact thing to say that crushes your soul but also makes total sense? Mine did the same thing with my first attempt at a living room plant wall, called it a mold experiment gone wrong. Honestly that kind of feedback stings but it's way better than someone just lying to be nice. You fixing it with different moss from a hike sounds awesome, way more real.

Remember how brutal honesty works both ways. My dad roasted my first "rustic" shelf for looking like firewood, but later asked me to fix his wobbly patio table. That moment when the critic needs your help hits different. It turns the whole dynamic from getting judged to being the expert they have to trust. Makes you rethink their past comments as clumsy help, not just attacks.
