That $80 moss order was a total loss, dried out in a week

I ordered a big box of preserved moss online because everyone in this group raves about the real stuff. Paid $80 for what looked like a lush carpet, but within 7 days it turned brown and crumbly, even in a sealed jar. The shop blamed humidity but offered no refund, so I just ate the cost. Anyone else had better luck with a specific brand or supplier for damp setups?

I had the same thing happen with one brand, but switching to preserved moss in a sealed terrarium with a little extra water spray has kept mine green for months now. Maybe try a different seller that ships it in a bag instead of a box, that made a huge difference for me.

Hang on, did the seller actually say what humidity level their moss needs to survive? Because "preserved" usually means it's dead and treated, not alive and thirsty. You mentioned a sealed jar, but if the moss was bone dry when it arrived, no amount of spritzing is gonna bring it back. Was it crumbly right out of the box, or did it look fine at first? That’s the real tell if it’s a shipping issue or just bad product. Skyler’s tip about bag vs box makes sense, but I’m curious if the bag ones arrive with any moisture still in them.
