Dollar store command strips actually held my curtain rod for 6 months now

I needed to hang a lightweight curtain in my shop's front window but didn't want to drill into the frame since I'm renting. Picked up a pack of those no-name adhesive hooks at Dollar Tree for 1.25 and used two of them to hold a tension rod in place. Figured they'd fail within a week but it's been half a year through summer humidity and everything. Has anyone else gotten lucky with dollar store adhesives for stuff they shouldn't hold?

My dollar store command strips failed after like 2 weeks holding up a small mirror... I guess your curtain rod is lighter than I thought. Those cheap adhesives just don't stick the same as the name brand ones in my experience, especially with any kind of weight or movement. Happy it worked for you though, that's a win.

Prep the surface with rubbing alcohol first before sticking anything.
