Had to choose between real wood glue and dollar store glue for my nightstand fix
My nightstand leg has been loose for like 6 months and I finally got sick of it. I was at the dollar store grabbing snacks and saw their wood glue for $1.25. But then I thought about how my buddy Dave fixed his chair with that stuff and it fell apart in a week. So I walked 3 blocks to the hardware store and paid $5 for Titebond. Honestly the dollar store glue might have worked for a light fix but my nightstand holds my phone, a lamp, and a giant water bottle every night. The Titebond dried clear and that leg hasnt budged in two weeks. For something thats gonna sit still and not take stress, yeah I could have saved cash. But for actual furniture I move around, never again. Anybody else use the cheap glue and have it hold up for something heavy?

Buddy of mine used the cheap stuff on a bookshelf and came home to all his books on the floor. Guess you get what you pay for, right?

My buddy Mike went through the exact same thing with a cheap shelf from a big box store. I used to think braces or brackets were just overkill, but after seeing his collection of paperbacks turn into a pile of bent pages, I completely changed my mind. Now I spend the extra $20 on decent hardware and solid wood shelves, even if it means waiting a bit longer on the project. Have you ever dealt with that kind of failure from budget gear?
