I swear the $1.25 store picture frames got thinner last year

I've been using Dollar Tree frames for a shadow box project i started in january, and the ones i bought back then had a solid half inch of depth. The ones i grabbed last week are barely a quarter inch thick, so my pressed flowers won't even fit anymore. Anybody else notice their dimensions changed or did i just get a bad batch?

Used to roll my eyes when people complained about shrinkflation on stuff like this. Figured it was just people being dramatic. But I grabbed a pack of these frames a couple days ago for a little art swap thing I'm doing, and my 8x10 prints were literally sticking out the front. Had to double check I didn't accidentally grab the wrong size. Your pressed flower story clinches it for me though, that's just cheap bullshit. They definitely shaved down the depth.

Yeah I had the same thing happen with a different brand last month. I was trying to frame a thick watercolor paper piece and the glass wouldn't even sit flat, it was bulging out the back. What I've started doing is measuring the inside depth before buying anything, just bring a little ruler or even a credit card to eyeball it. The craft stores are the worst for this now, especially the ones that sell those bundle packs. If you've already got the frames, you can sometimes pop the backing out and use some foam core to build up the depth yourself, but that's a pain. Honestly for anything with real thickness like pressed flowers or canvas paper, I've had way better luck hitting up thrift stores for older frames, the ones from 10-15 years ago are built like tanks compared to this new junk.
