My glitter glue ornaments kept looking cloudy and dull

I was making Christmas ornaments with my daughter using those little glass balls from Dollar Tree (you know, the ones near the fake flowers). For like 3 years I'd pour glitter glue inside and swirl it around, but they always came out looking milky and gross. Then last week I accidentally left the cap off the glue bottle for like 10 minutes before using it, and the ornament came out crystal clear. Turns out you're supposed to stir the glue first to get the air bubbles out, otherwise they dry all foggy. Has anyone else had dollar store craft supplies that needed some weird trick to work right?

The Dollar Tree glitter glue is actually pretty thick compared to regular Elmer's, so I think shaking it before opening is key to getting it to flow right. My daughter and I have made about 15 of those ornaments this year after I figured out the same trick you did with stirring the glue first. I've tested it side by side with a shaken bottle vs one that sat for a few minutes, and the difference is HUGE on how clear the glass looks when it dries. So I totally get what you mean about it being a weird trick because standard craft glue doesn't need that kind of treatment to work right.

Glitter glue is just craft glue with sparkles in it, not some special science experiment. You probably just had a bad batch or didn't shake it enough. I've done the same thing with regular glue and it worked fine either way. Getting air bubbles out of glitter glue seems like overthinking something that's basically just shiny Elmer's.
