One buck of glow sticks made my garage workbench look pro

I spotted a four pack of glow sticks at Dollar Tree and snapped them onto my pegboard hooks to mark tool spots after dark, cost me $1.25 total. My buddy walked in and thought I bought some fancy LED kit, has anyone else hacked cheap lighting for night projects?

Wait, hold on. Glow sticks? Like the ones you snap and they glow all night? Man, that is wild. I have tried so many different cheap work lights and strip LEDs over the years, but I never once thought about just cracking a glow stick and hooking it to a pegboard. That is honestly kind of genius because there is zero wiring or battery changing, just toss them when they die. I bet the light is way softer and easier on the eyes than those harsh blue LEDs too, which is perfect for when you are out there at 11pm and your eyes are already tired. My only worry is how long they actually last before they fade out on you, but for a buck and a quarter, who cares? Next time I am at Dollar Tree I am grabbing like six packs of them, so thanks for that idea.
