Ditched my manual drafting table for a digital one and I'm still mad about it

Used a traditional drafting board with parallel bar for 12 years straight. Could lay out a floor plan in my sleep. Then the firm I worked for in Austin switched everyone to digital tablets in 2022. I fought it for 6 months, kept using paper. Now I'm stuck on a Wacom and it still feels wrong. The lines are too clean. No smudges, no eraser shavings. How do you guys get over the lack of feedback? Missing the resistance of a lead holder on vellum.

Lines are too clean" - that's actually the whole reason digital drafting took over. You're not supposed to get feedback from a tablet, it's just a screen. Get a screen protector that feels like paper, that'll give you some drag.

Are paperlike screen protectors actually any good or do they just wear down your pen nibs faster?

Ngl I used to be all about that clean digital line too, thought paperlike was just marketing hype. But then I tried a friend's tablet with one and honestly it changed my mind, the drag makes all the difference for control. Still kills nibs faster but worth it for actual drawing feel.
