Finally figured out how to stop my polylines from exploding on import

I've been dealing with that issue where my DWG polylines turn into loose lines every time I bring them into Revit. After like 4 months of just working around it, I tried binding the xrefs first and then using the export setup utility to set the 2013 format in AutoCAD 2021. It actually worked on my last project for the Johnson renovation downtown. Anyone else have a different trick that works better for this?

oh man, tell me about it. i spent a solid week thinking i was losing my mind because every time i imported a site plan it looked like someone took scissors to it. idk why but i feel like revit just sees a polyline and goes 'nope, not today.' binding the xrefs first is definitely the move though, i've had way less trouble since i started doing that myself. i also found that if you purge the dwg like three times before exporting it seems to knock something loose. maybe it's just me but i swear autocad holds a grudge and releases your lines just to mess with you. it's like the software equivalent of waking up with your hair looking like a disaster for no reason.

yeah i hate to be that guy but purging a dwg three times probably doesn't do anything different than doing it once. it just deletes the same unused stuff over and over. what actually helps is using the audit command first to fix any errors, then purge once and run overkill to clean up duplicate lines. that combo has saved me from a lot of revit freakouts with site plans.
