Hit my 500th flat pattern today and it finally clicked

I've been drafting for about 2 years now and I hit my 500th flat pattern this morning. It was for a simple aluminum bracket with a few bends, nothing fancy. But something about that number made me stop and think. When I started I could barely visualize how a flat pattern would fold up. Now I can look at a 3D part and just know where the bend lines go and how much material to add. It's not like I'm some master or anything, but 500 feels like a real milestone. I still mess up bend deductions sometimes though. Did anyone else have a certain number of patterns where things started feeling natural?

That "finally clicked" thing is real. For me it was around 300 or so when I stopped second guessing my bend allowance numbers and could just eyeball it close enough most of the time. Still mess up now and then, but it's way less frustrating.

500 flat patterns, huh? That is a solid number. You know, I was thinking about this the other day while I was on the road. I was counting up how many loads I've hauled over the years and it got me wondering if there's a magic number for anything. For me, it was around mile 50,000 or so when I finally stopped second guessing my route choices and just knew when to take a shortcut. I still get lost sometimes though, especially in those weird industrial parks out in the middle of nowhere. But that feeling when a skill just clicks is a good one, no matter what you're doing.
