Question about using a mouse vs. a tablet for detail work

I was doing some really fine detail on a mechanical layout last week and switched from my usual mouse to an old Wacom tablet I had. The control for hatching and line weight was way better, felt like drawing with a pencil. Anyone else made a switch like that for precision drafting?

Switched years ago and never looked back. What kind of mechanical layout were you working on? The pressure sensitivity makes a huge difference for line work. Do you find the tablet slows you down at all when switching between drafting and other tasks?

Honestly, the slowdown isn't from the tool switch itself, but from how our brains get wired to a certain workflow. I was working on detailed schematics, and at first, yes, reaching for the mouse felt faster. But after forcing myself to use the tablet for everything, even emails, it became second nature. Now the delay is mental, not physical, because I'm not changing tools, just my focus. It reminds me of how any new habit feels clunky until you stop thinking about it. The real speed comes from committing fully to the new method, not keeping a foot in both worlds.

Yeah, the "slows you down" thing is real at first. My buddy was doing HVAC duct layouts and fought his tablet for weeks, said it felt like drawing with a brick. He finally did what @the_mia said and used it for everything, even just web browsing. After a month, he said his mouse felt weird and clumsy for any kind of drawing.
