Rant: Switched from hand drafting to full digital... kind of regretting it

I've been drafting for about 12 years now, mostly doing commercial HVAC plans. Last month I finally gave up my old drafting board and went completely digital with a big-name software. I figured it would speed things up but I swear my redlines are taking twice as long now because I keep zooming in too close and missing whole sections. The guy who trained me said I'd adjust after 60 hours of use but I'm only at 40 and I'm losing patience. Has anyone else jumped to digital and felt like they lost their workflow for a while?

wait, your trainer said you'd adjust after exactly 60 hours? that's such a random number lol. i switched to digital like 5 years ago and it took me way longer than that to stop zooming into oblivion and missing half my work. honestly 40 hours in your still learning the muscle memory, give it another month before you swear off the software completely.

Nah I feel you, I read somewhere that muscle memory for digital stuff is way different than traditional media. Something about how your brain processes hand movements on a screen versus paper takes way longer than people think. 60 hours seems like some number someone pulled out of thin air honestly. I saw a study once that said professional artists still make mistakes on tablets even after hundreds of hours, they just get better at fixing them fast. The whole "you'll adjust in 60 hours" thing is like promising someone they'll be fluent in a language after two weeks. Give it time, your brain will catch up eventually.
