Shoutout to the old guy at the 2022 Denver trade show who told me to ditch my 2D detail sheets
He saw my booth setup and said, 'Kid, you're making extra work for yourself, just model it right the first time.' I stopped drawing separate 2D details for standard connections and now my 3D models do all the work. How many of you are still stuck in the 2D detail sheet habit?

I mean, it's like that with so many old ways of doing things. You see it with people who still print out maps for a trip instead of using their phone, or manually back up files to a hard drive one by one. There's just this comfort in the old, familiar process, even when it clearly makes more work.

My old boss at the steel shop made me draw every single bolt for three years straight. I must have wasted months on those 2D details before I finally pushed back. That switch to letting the 3D model handle it feels like getting your life back. I still see guys at my new place printing out sheets to mark up with a red pen.
