Switched from paper stencils to a projector for ceiling details

For years I used big paper sheets and a tape measure to lay out those fancy ceiling medallions and crown corners. Every job took half a day just marking and rechecking. About 8 months ago I borrowed a buddy's laser projector and now I beam the pattern straight onto the ceiling, trace it with chalk, and cut. Saves me close to 3 hours on a typical 20x15 room. Has anyone else tried this for repetitive wall panels or other patterns?

Wait, you can just project the pattern directly and trace it? I honestly thought projectors were overkill for this kind of work, like a gimmick for guys who can't measure straight. But now I'm kicking myself for all the times I had to hold a tape measure and a pencil at the same time while lying on my back. I bet it's a total game changer for crown corners too, since you can see exactly where the angles meet before you even cut.
