Vent: spent 4 hours redoing a roof line because I didn't check my scale first
I was working on this residential house over in Oakville last Thursday, drafting up the roof trusses for a new addition. Everything looked good on screen, angles were matching, loads seemed right, but when I printed my shop drawing and walked it over to the framing crew, the foreman just stared at me. He pointed out that my pitch was off by like 2 degrees because I had scaled the whole thing from a site photo without double checking the actual rise and run on site. So I had to go back, grab my tape, measure everything myself, and redo the whole thing from scratch. It was a brutal afternoon hunched over the board trying to fix my own mistake while the crew waited. Has anyone else gotten burned by trusting a photo scale over real measurements?

Yeah the tape measure part is right, but you probably meant "triple check the rise and run" not the tape measure itself since that's what actually bit you. Live and learn I guess.
