Warning: That cheap polyurethane foam I used on a set of blueprints warped them bad

Tbh I tried using a generic $8 can of polyurethane foam to mount a draft for a commercial project in downtown Austin. The foam expanded way more than I thought and actually warped the paper so bad the lines got distorted. Ended up having to redo the whole thing from scratch. Anyone else run into issues with spray foam near paper or film?

Hey that $8 can, was it the "great stuff" kind or the regular gap filler? I used the "great stuff" expanding foam on a foam core board mockup once and it blew up like a balloon, warped the whole thing. The regular polyurethane foam, the non-expanding kind, works way better for paper projects. Just a heads up, some foams are labeled "expanding" and some aren't, the cheap ones usually have more gas in them. So check the can next time, you want the stuff that says "minimal expansion" or "non-expanding" on it. Really saved me on a film set mockup a few months back.

Hell yeah, I used to think any foam would work for mounting prints. But you're spot on, I grabbed a cheap can without looking and it ruined a whole set of site plans for me. Gotta pay closer attention to the label now.
