Was always taught hand drafting is superior, but now I'm not so sure...

I used to swear by my drafting board and pencil, thought CAD was just a crutch. But last month I had to do a revision on a 40-sheet set and the CAD guy finished in 2 hours what would've taken me 2 days. Is traditional skill really better, or am I just being stubborn about old habits?

Tell that to @campbell.logan when he's retracing someone's messy scanned drawing for an hour.

Dude it's just drawing lines, not that deep.

Ask @gavinperez if he's ever had to redo a whole electrical layout because someone's hand-drawn lines were off by an eighth of an inch. That's where the real pain is, when you're trying to match up to existing work and the old school drawing has you chasing ghosts. So here's my question for you - do you think the hand drafting guys ever account for how CAD saves time on the boring stuff, like revisions and layers, or do they just ignore that part because it hurts their pride?
