Dredging the flats near Port Arthur got me thinking...

I was working a maintenance dredge job in Port Arthur last month near the Sabine Pass jetties. The silt buildup was way worse than anyone predicted, and it made me wonder: are we better off doing smaller upkeep dredges every 6 months, or saving up for one big deep dredge every 2 years? What's your crew's experience with silt cycles?

The smaller upkeep dredges every 6 months make more sense to me. Big deep dredges always seem to stir up more problems than they solve, kind of like how fixing a tiny leak in your roof RIGHT away beats waiting for a full roof replacement. Silt builds up in cycles just like rust on a car frame, if you let it sit too long it becomes a MASSIVE headache. My crew saw that last year, we did the small job on time and the channel stayed clear for months. Skipping the routine work just lets the problem fester and then you're stuck with a bigger mess and more downtime. Consistency wins over the big blast every time in my book.
