Got burned on a $600 hydraulic hose crimper from an auction site
Bought a used hydraulic hose crimper online for $600 thinking I scored a deal. First job with it on a 1-inch suction line and the dies slipped, ruined the fitting and I had to call a mobile service to fix it on site. Turns out the crimper was way out of calibration and I didn't check it before use. Anyone here ever buy used dredge gear that ended up costing you more in repairs?

Man I mean you gotta test stuff like that before you trust it on a real job.

My third time trying a new adhesive on a backsplash I literally tested it on a piece of scrap drywall in my garage for like two weeks straight. It held up fine through heat and humidity so I thought I was good. Then I got to the actual job and the first tile slid right off the wall like it was buttered. I spent the next hour picking off dried thinset and pretending I meant to do that. So yeah, testing is smart until the test lies to you lol.
