Had a tough talk with an old timer about pump wear rates
I was bragging about running my slurry pump at 110% speed to clear clogs faster, and this guy with 30 years experience told me I'm burning through liners in half the time. He showed me his logbook where he runs at 90% and gets 2,000 more hours per set. Has anyone else switched to a slower pace and seen better long-term costs?

Honestly, that old timer probably saved you a ton of money without you even realizing it yet. Ngl, most guys only think about getting the job done faster, but they don't factor in how much downtime and parts cost when you burn through liners twice as fast. There's also the power bill to consider, running at full tilt eats way more electricity over a month, and that adds up fast. Plus, slower speeds mean less stress on the whole pump assembly, not just the liners, so you might avoid a catastrophic shaft or bearing failure down the road. Its worth trying his method for a few months and tracking your own numbers, the proof is in the logbook.
