I finally figured out how to handle a silt curtain tear in a strong current near the Mobile River mouth
The anchor line snapped at high tide, so I used the auxiliary winch on the port side to pull the curtain against the hull while my deckhand patched it with a spare section of reinforced vinyl and marine adhesive, which held long enough for us to get back to the dock.

Always thought you had to drop anchor in that situation, but using the winch like that is way smarter.

Yeah that's a total game changer.

Glad you found a way to patch it up on the fly. That Mobile River current can be a real bear, especially near the mouth where the tide and river flow fight each other. I've been in similar spots where everything just goes sideways at the worst moment. It's good thinking to use the hull as a temporary anchor point like that. Always nice when a quick fix gets you back to the dock without having to call for a tow.
