emerydixon it's funny you mention behind the scenes stuff because that "fake snow team" thing is actually a really common myth that gets passed around. Movie crews definitely have props and special effects departments, but there's no one dedicated exclusively to fake snow full time (I mean, unless it's a snow-heavy movie like The Day After Tomorrow or something). Usually it's just the regular art department that handles it along with all the other set dressing. So your cousin probably just saw one of the prop guys doing his job on a specific day, not an entire team that does nothing else.

My cousin worked on a movie set once and said they had a whole team just for making fake snow look real. They spent three days on a single shot of a character walking through a park.
