Showerthought: Grease buildup kills cutterhead bearings fast
Was working a job in Norfolk last summer, kept burning through bearings every 300 hours. Turns out the grease fitting was hidden under six inches of compacted muck.

A good pressure washer and some careful poking around saved me from the same headache. Found a similar mess on an older machine, cleaned it all out and the bearings are still going strong.

Oh man, I feel that. I've done the same thing on a couple of old tractors here, and it really does work if you're careful. Just gotta watch out for blasting water into the seals too hard, that's what gets you.
