Threw $600 down the drain on a fancy GPS mapping system
Bought that high-end GPS mapping add-on for my dredge two years ago. Thought it would save time on tracking cuts. Ended up never using it because the interface was way too complicated for the conditions I work in. Anyone else buy gear that sounded good but just sat in the box?

...so my buddy Ron bought one of those fancy GPS mapping units for his boat, the kind with all the sonar and live mapping. He spent like $800 on it, swore it would change how he fished. First time out on the lake, he couldn't even figure out how to turn it on without the manual (which got soaked in the first five minutes). Ended up using his phone's map app the whole trip. Thing sits in his garage collecting dust, still in the box, three years later.

Must be nice to have $800 to blow on a paperweight, some of us paddle with a stick and a trash bag.
