Took me 3 years to finally dial in my cutterhead timing on the Ellicott 370
Last month I finally got the timing perfect on the Ellicott 370 after three years of tweaking, and the swing is so smooth now I actually look forward to the morning shift has anyone else dealt with that frustrating half-second lag issue on older machines?

Three years for half a second of lag" - but it's not really about the half second. On those 370s the whole swing rhythm gets thrown off when the timing is even slightly off. You end up fighting the machine all day and it wears you out. Three years of weekends and afternoons tinkering, but now I can run a full shift without my back hurting.

Three years feels like a long time, but once you get that timing dialed in it's like the machine starts breathing with you. I notice that same pattern in my own life where small fixes take forever but then everything clicks. @oscarcooper might not get it, but that half-second lag is the difference between fighting your machine all day and actually working with it. Funny how the little things end up being the biggest time sinks.
