Unpopular opinion: I switched from cable to hydraulic dredge controls and I'm never going back

Everyone at the yard told me hydraulics are too finicky and expensive to fix, but after 6 months on a job in Savannah running a 12-inch cutterhead, the precision on the swing is way better. Has anyone else made the switch and actually seen a difference in production?

Dredging in Savannah is a whole different beast with that heavy clay, right? I heard the 12-inch swings way cleaner with hydraulic than cable, like you can actually feather the throttle instead of just yanking it.

Hydraulic swing on the 12-inch is night and day in that mud.
