Rant: Letting eucalyptus dry fully on the stem ruins the shape

Everyone says to hang eucalyptus upside down to dry, but I tried leaving mine upright in a vase with no water (like a total rebel) and the stems drooped into this lovely cascading shape that looks way more natural. I learned that not every flower needs to be stiff as a board to look good in a dried arrangement. Has anyone else broken the 'hang upside down' rule and gotten a cool result?

Whoa, wait... you left lavender on the counter for a whole month and it actually looked good? That's wild to me because I always figured it would just turn into a crumbly mess on the floor. Guess I've been way too strict with my drying rules this whole time.

Lovely cascading shape" is exactly what happened when I forgot about a bunch of lavender I left on the kitchen counter for a month. It looked way better than the stiff stuff I've hung up before.
