Spent $40 on glycerin for preserving flowers and got mixed results

I saw this tip online about using glycerin to keep dried flowers flexible instead of brittle. So I bought a big bottle of vegetable glycerin from the craft store for around $40. Mixed it with warm water and put some eucalyptus stems in it for two weeks. They came out super soft and bendy but also kind of greasy and weird looking. Anyone else tried glycerin and had it work better for certain flowers than others?

Honestly, is it really that deep though? You spent forty bucks on glycerin for some flowers that might last a little longer, but they ended up greasy and weird? I feel like you could have just dried them the old fashioned way and saved the money and hassle. Tbh, half the time these DIY hacks are more trouble than they're worth, and glycerin is no exception. Ngl, I'd rather just enjoy fresh flowers for a week than mess around with a weird science experiment. It's just flowers at the end of the day, you know?

A buddy of mine tried this glycerin thing with some roses he got for his anniversary... spent like thirty bucks on a bottle and followed some YouTube tutorial to the letter. Two weeks later the flowers looked like they were dipped in cooking oil, all limp and greasy, and his wife was not impressed. He ended up tossing them in the trash and just buying her a new bouquet the normal way.
