Thought silica gel was overhyped until I tried it on my lavender harvest

I always just hung my lavender to dry in the garage, but last June I had a whole batch get moldy before they even finished. Bought a 5 pound bag of silica gel from the craft store on a whim and now they're perfect every time - keeps the color AND the smell way better than air drying. Anyone else switch methods after a bad batch ruined their flowers?

Silica gel is honestly a game changer for sure! I had the same thing happen with my lavender a couple years back, hung it in the shed and came back to a gray fuzzy mess. After switching to silica gel, the difference was night and day. The flowers keep their deep purple color and the smell sticks around way longer too. It's a little bit more work upfront but totally worth it compared to losing a whole batch.

Heard a gardening podcaster say silica gel is the only way for preserving color.
