Last week I learned why you dont store canned beans in the bilge
Forgot a can of black beans under the floorboards for 3 months and it exploded in 40 degree heat. Took me 6 hours with a shop vac and a toothbrush to get the smell out. Anybody else got a bilge food disaster story?

3 cans of tuna rolled under a seat in my skiff last July. Had to pull the whole floor panel and scrub with vinegar for two days straight before the smell finally faded.

Skiff owner here. Next time try a cup of baking soda mixed with water first. Let it sit for an hour before you scrub. Works way faster than vinegar.
