Spent $150 on a fancy marine toilet pump that lasted 3 days
Bought a "heavy duty" electric pump for my head off some online marine store, installed it Tuesday, and by Friday it was grinding like a coffee maker full of rocks. Anyone else get burned by a marine part that advertised itself as "marine grade" but was clearly just rebranded RV junk?

That "marine grade" claim is almost always a lie. A buddy of mine bought a "waterproof" bilge pump with the same label and it shorted out the first time it actually got wet.

Has anyone looked at the exact wording on the packaging? I swear "marine grade" and "water resistant" are practically code for "fine for a light drizzle but don't actually dunk it." I've got a boat that's seen a dozen different "waterproof" deck lights and every single one of them died the second a wave splashed over the side. The only thing that's ever lasted is a cheap old incandescent bulb I found in a junk bin, no label at all. It's like companies know we'll pay a premium just for the promise, even if the promise is basically a lie.
