Busted my brand new taping knife on a bad butt joint yesterday

I was smoothing out a ceiling joint in a tight hallway and the blade just snapped clean off the handle. It was a 12 inch stainless I picked up at Home Depot two weeks ago. Anybody else had luck with the cheaper knives holding up or should I just stick to the expensive ones from now on?

Why even buy cheap tools if you're just gonna blame the drywall?

$20 at Harbor Freight gets you a drywall knife that works fine if you treat it right. @mason_ward I get what you're saying, but even good tools can't fix bad framing or lumpy mud. A cheap blade just needs a quick edge touch up before you start blaming the walls.
