Last week's stilt shift made me doubt adjustable models

I was taping a ceiling in my own house. The adjustable stilt I stood on wobbled, and I almost lost my balance. Do you stick with fixed-height stilts for better stability?

Stick with fixed ones after my own graceful near-tumble.

That "graceful near-tumble" is no joke. My buddy Mark tried using adjustable ones on a deck job. A leg gave way mid-reach, he went sideways and cracked two ribs on the rail. He won't touch them now, says the locking pins feel cheap.

Disagree with dumping on adjustables. I've relied on them for a DECADE and never took a tumble. You MUST check each leg's lock before putting weight on it. Cheap pins will fail, but my set has never given me a hint of slip. They adjust to fit any deck, and that's a BIG deal.
