My drill decided to quit mid-screw on a ceiling job

Was hanging a 12-foot sheet in a basement remodel in Nashville last Tuesday, and right as I got the first screw in, the chuck just locked up solid on me. Smoke started coming out of the vents and everything. Anyone ever have a DeWalt just die like that on a hot day?

Smoke coming out of the vents" sounds like the drill was auditioning for a magic show.

Did you have it on a long extension cord? I've seen those things get funky when they're pulling power through 100 feet of cord on a hot afternoon.
