My plumber buddy told me to always check the wall cavity for surprises before I close it up

We were working on a remodel in a 1950s house in Tacoma last month, and he was there to move a drain line. He said, 'Val, I once found a full set of 1970s Playboys and a mason jar of pennies behind a sheet of rock lath.' That got me thinking about all the weird stuff I've sealed away forever. I once found a kid's homework from 1998, completely finished, just tucked in there. Now I take a quick peek with my light before I hang the new board, just in case. What's the strangest thing you've ever found inside a wall?

My uncle sealed a dead mouse collection in his 1987 kitchen wall.

A buddy of mine found a whole dead squirrel collection in his grandma's attic once. She had apparently been collecting them for years and stashing them in old cookie tins. The weirdest part was they were all labeled with dates and locations, like some kind of morbid scrapbook. It took him weeks to clean out the smell even after he threw the tins away.

Found a dusty old love letter from 1942 behind some plaster once, made me wonder about the whole story.
