Show me your mud pan setup. I found a hack.

Been doing drywall for about 8 years now. Always hated cleaning out my mud pan between jobs. Scraping dried crud off the corners takes forever. Last week I tried spraying the inside with cooking spray before loading it up. Just a light coat of Pam or whatever. Figured it was worth a shot. Mud slides right off when I'm done. Takes me maybe 30 seconds to wipe clean now instead of 5 minutes with a putty knife. Has anyone else tried something weird like that that actually worked?

Honestly, have you ever noticed how that same principle works with so many things? Like, people think they need expensive specialty stuff but a basic household product does the trick. Spraying a little non-stick cooking spray on your mud pan is genius, it’s basically the same idea as greasing a baking pan so the cake doesn't stick. I think it’s just one of those little life hacks nobody talks about because they assume you need the fancy drywall tools. But most of the time, the answer is just something you already got in your kitchen cabinet.

Totally agree, the kitchen cabinet trick is a game changer. Been using cooking spray on my mud pan for years after a buddy showed me. It saves so much time scraping dried mud off and keeps the pan clean. Plus it's way cheaper than buying those specialty drywall pan lubricants that cost like triple the price. Just gotta be careful not to go overboard or it'll mess with the mud's stick on the wall. Simple stuff like that makes a huge difference for us regular folks doing our own drywall.
