That $70 drywall lift I rented was a scam

Spent an hour setting it up only to have the arm sag under a 4x10 sheet. Returned it and just wrestled it up with a buddy, which took half the time. Anybody else find these things more trouble than they're worth?

Wait, you really think those lifts are a scam? I used to swear by them, but honestly this post is making me rethink everything. I had the same problem with a rental where the arm just wouldn't hold steady on a full sheet. It wobbled so bad I nearly lost a 5/8 sheet and had to call it quits. Now I just grab my brother in law and we muscle it up in 20 minutes flat. So yeah, I'm with you on this one now.

Muscle it up in 20 minutes flat." That's the dream right there. My brother in law is always "busy" when I need a hand. Suddenly he's got car trouble or a dentist appointment. Real convenient timing. So I keep renting those stupid lifts. Every single time I think "this one will be different." It's never different. Arm wobbles like a wet noodle. I swear they make them out of tin foil and bad intentions now.
