That big box store drywall is giving me trouble lately
I picked up a bunch of sheets from the big blue store in Tacoma last week and the edges are all chipped and crumbly. Every other board has a corner that just flakes off when I try to hang it. Anyone else noticing a drop in quality from the big box suppliers or did I just get a bad pallet?

...actually got a similar batch a few months back from the same place and it was so bad I took a whole pallet back. The guy at customer service even admitted they had a run of junk from the factory, some moisture issue in transit or whatever. I ended up having to drive all the way to a lumberyard on the other side of town just to get boards that didn't feel like they were pre-crumbled.

Are you sure it's not just how you're handling or cutting the boards? I've been buying from the same places for years and sure, you get a busted edge here and there, but nothing like every other board. Maybe it's the specific store or even how they stored the pallet in the back... I've seen forklifts drop whole stacks and they just wrap them up and sell them.
