TIL pre-filling butt joints saves way more time than I thought

Used to just tape and mud everything in one pass like everybody else. Tried filling the gap first with hot mud and letting it dry before taping on a big basement job last week, cut my finishing time by almost 2 hours. Anyone else do this or am I just slow for not figuring it out sooner?

Pre-filling butt joints saves way more time" - wait, hold up. You're telling me you just figured this out? Man, I've been doing this for years and I thought everyone knew about it. I'm actually shocked you were taping and mudding in one pass on those things, that sounds like a nightmare. Hot mud in the gap first is the only way to go, it makes the tape lay flat without those stupid bubbles. You probably saved yourself a ton of sanding time too, those butt joints are always the worst part of any drywall job.
